Beldar and Sonja, a couple of thieves who belong to the legendary universe of Swords and Wizardry, steal a precious gem. It is shaped like a human heart and they find it in the creepy crypt of the Order of the Thousand Eyes, a wicked sect of all-powerful wizards.
As they are escaping from there, they realise that the gem is cursed and its spell has been transmitted onto them. After being knocked unconscious, Beldar awakens in another world. He has undergone a metamorphosis and now inhabits the teenaged body of a 16-year-old acne-ridden boy named Ramón Belda. This boy has an amazing imagination and is constantly plagued by visions corresponding to the role play games he and his friends take part in every night. Beldar is the character Ramón plays in those games. He is his other self, his role and the hero he wishes he were.
